What?
A tiny man made from a chopped up credit card.

When?
2004 - 2005

Why?
Have a look at Lloyd. He may have one leg bigger than the other but he's still brilliant.

What happened?
Down the pub in Hull one evening, I found a Lloyds bank card in my wallet. Being as the account had been closed ages ago, it was no use to man nor beast. With the able assistance of Matt, and a manicure set provided by Tessa, Lloyd was born. As you can see he has one leg considerably larger than the other, this is to help him balance upright. From the side Lloyd resembles a 3D stick man.

During that night, and for a few days afterwards, Lloyd took on the character of a real person, coming everywhere with me. After that, he spent some time in my car, and he now lives at home on a shelf.

When Will it End?
In fairness, Lloyd was pretty short lived and mild as an obsession. Although I sometimes toy with the idea of trying to pay for something using him just to see the reaction, I haven't done it yet.

Play Along at Home
If you would like to create your very own Lloyd type character, it's very easy. You will need a credit card or similar and some scissors, preferably small. Lloyd is made in three parts, the head and two body sections. The body is about two thirds of the card trimmed off the long axis. The smaller (trimmed off) part will make the head. Slice the body across the middle. To make the arms cut a small rectangle off each long side of one bit, leaving a bit sticking out each side. Slice up the inside edge of the sticking out bits, and bend them out to form arms. Trim the lower part of the body section to form legs, but bear in mind that your little friend will fall over if you make them too small. Finally, cut a head out of the first bit of trimming, cut a slot in the top of the body, and insert the head to your liking. Enjoy...
